What's In A Name?

Liz Piazza Sleeth, LMT

I strive to live a conscious life. What does that mean? For me, it means embracing the following three principles:

I try to be physically, mentally and emotionally aware of how my actions (and reactions) might positively or negatively affect myself and others.

Yin and Yang. Work and play. Cake and salad. It's all about balance!

When I'm grateful, it's impossible for me to feel negative in that moment. So, I try to find as many things as I can to be thankful for -  and remind myself daily.

At Your Service...

Hi! I'm Liz, and I'm a licensed massage therapist serving the Greenville area at my home studio in Taylors, SC.

I love what I do! I work hard, and the reward for me is the satisfaction I feel having helped another client get to a better place. If you're in need of a relaxing massage, it's my mission to leave you feeling rejuvenated and stress free. If you're experiencing discomfort or pain, I will engage the sleuth in me to find out what may be causing your symptoms. Whilst my primary concern is to alleviate any tension or discomfort you may be feeling, my ultimate goal is to find and correct the cause of the problem, so that over time we (yes, both of us!) might actually eliminate it altogether. Hint - I might give you homework on occasion to do between sessions :-).

Often times, recurring discomfort can be caused (and corrected) by lifestyle choices we make on a daily basis. How we sit, stand, walk and sleep can all cause certain muscles to over-compensate, thereby creating an imbalance in our body mechanics. In other words, when your muscles are arguing it's my job to keep the peace! With a full body approach to massage therapy I incorporate several of the modalities in which I have been trained to address your specific requirements.

I will tailor my massage to suit your specific needs and requirements, often incorporating several modalities in a single session...
SERVICES
ACU-CUPPING

Acu-Cupping uses vacuum suction to relieve muscle aches, decrease inflammation, reduce joint stiffness, increase blood flow and range of motion. This ancient form of alternative treatment can be utilized for deep tissue or for a lighter approach to increase a sense of relaxation.

FIRE CUPPING

The same advantages as Acu- cupping but using traditional glass cups and fire. The therapist lights a alcohol soaked cotton ball and inserts it into the glass, then quickly places the glass on the skin over the muscle to be treated. The client doesn’t feel the heat. The heat is only used to take up the oxygen in the cup allowing it to “lift” the fascia and release the tension in that area.

DEEP TISSUE
SWEDISH

Deep tissue massage is a good option to help relieve muscle tension. It can help relieve tight muscles, chronic muscle pain, and anxiety. A deep tissue massage incorporates slow strokes and deep finger pressure to relieve tension from the deepest layers of your muscles and connective tissues

Swedish massage is a gentle type of full-body massage that’s ideal for people who:

  • are new to massage

  • have a lot of tension

  • are sensitive to touch.

  • want to fully relax during their massage.

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE

Used to treat muscle immobility and pain by relaxing contracted muscles, thereby improving blood, oxygen and lymphatic circulation and stimulating the stretch reflex in muscles.

TRIGGER POINT THERAPY

Trigger point massage is best suited for people who have chronic pain, or a specific issue or condition. Sometimes areas of tightness in the muscle tissues, known as trigger points, can cause pain in other parts of the body. By focusing on relieving trigger points, this type of massage can reduce pain.

NEUROMUSCULAR THERAPY
PRE-NATAL

Soft tissue manipulation and sustained pressure help to balance the central nervous system with the musculoskeletal system. Can be used to alleviate chronic pain, trigger points, restore the bodies natural alignment and aid in nerve entrapment.

Prenatal massage can be a safe way for women to get a massage during pregnancy. It can help reduce pregnancy body aches, reduce stress, and ease muscle tension. You can get a massage at any time during your pregnancy after the first trimester.

AROMATHERAPY
TABLE THAI
MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

Aromatherapy is the use, by inhalation and application, of pure essential oils, primarily distilled from plants to restore and enhance health, beauty and well-being. Essential oils can directly and indirectly benefit the body's physiological systems in a variety of ways, helping to relieve stress and anxiety, as well as muscle aches and pains.

Traditional Thai massage performed on a massage table instead of on a floor mat. Table Thai combines a variety of stretching movements, gentle rocking, muscle compressions, joint mobilization and acupressure, to lower stress, boost energy, releive headaches, stimulate circulation, and improve range of motion.

This is a specialized (and relaxing) massage technique incorporating gentle strokes and rhythmic pumping to help move lymphatic fluid in the direction of the lymph pathways, stimulating the immune system and detoxifying the body. Whilst many hospitals rely on MLD and it's proven effects on the treatment of Lymphedema, this treatment has many other benefits:

  • Relief from pain and soreness

  • Reducing digestive problems and discomfort

  • Balancing hormone levels

  • Relieving seasonal allergies and headaches

  • Helps with Insomnia

  • Reducing the effects of jet lag

  • General detoxification and stress relief

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Edema

  • Arthritis

Please allow 10 days after vaccinations/injections before Manual Lymphatic Drainage treatment.
